A midwife is a trained medical professional who offers comprehensive care throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postpartum period. They monitor the health of both the mother and baby at every stage, ensuring their safety and well-being. Midwives are responsible for managing any complications that may arise during childbirth.
In contrast, a doula is a non-medical professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum phase. Doulas do not perform medical procedures or assist with the delivery of babies. Their role focuses on helping the mother manage the emotional and physical challenges of childbirth by offering comfort techniques such as massage, breathing exercises, and position suggestions. They offer continuous emotional support and encouragement during labor.

As your doula, I will also be supporting your partner! I'll provide information to bridge any gaps in understanding, ensuring they can take breaks, eat, and rest so they're prepared to support you after the birth. I can also coach them on how to support you during labor.

My postpartum care is customized to meet your individual needs, with each home visit typically lasting 2-4 hours. At each visit, I'll check in with you to determine what would be most beneficial for you at that time.
This might include:
Providing a compassionate listening ear and offering a space to process your birth experience
Developing a postpartum plan, pre- birth to ensure you are fully supported and have a plan in action for this very crucial time of healing and bonding with baby.
Handling household chores
Assisting with childcare for older siblings
Preparing soothing sitz baths
Helping you keep up with hydration and nutrition
I prioritize creating a calm and supportive environment that respects the natural rhythms of your home and family life. My goal is to enhance your well-being and bonding experience with your baby, without causing disruption or intrusion.

A mother's blessing is a celebration that honors a woman as she prepares to give birth and transition into motherhood. Unlike a traditional baby shower, which often focuses on gifts for the baby, a mother's blessing centers around supporting and nurturing the mother-to-be emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. It's a deeply meaningful and personal way to honor and uplift an expectant mother as she embarks on the transformative journey of childbirth and motherhood.
